The Godfrey family are sixth-generation grocers and The Ridley Godfrey Foundation, run by Hugh, Nicola, Justine and Jennifer Godfrey, enables the Thomas Ridley community to collectively support a wide range of not-for-profit projects and initiatives across East Anglia, with a commitment to donate £250,000 over the course of five years to improve the lives of local people and animals.
Recent projects to benefit from the foundation have included financing new uniforms for nurses at St Nicholas Hospice, the local hospice to Thomas Ridley’s site in Bury St Edmunds, sponsoring Christmas hampers through Gatehouse, a Bury-St-Edmunds-based foodbank charity, and a £13,000 donation to Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS), to purchase an advanced ZOLL pre-hospital emergency medicine monitoring device. This year our chosen charity is Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
